Beyoncé: Swimsuit cover girl: WHY?

Tags: , , , ,
Beyoncé in Bikini on Cover of S.I. Swimsuit Issue Debra blogs: First Jennifer makes history by being the first Black singer to make the cover of Vogue magazine. Beyonce then counter attacks by "persuading" the powers that be to get her on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue ( the second African-American to pose on the cover of the Swimsuit Issue, the other was Tyra Banks).

It doesn't even look like her... is she taking the Michael/Janet Jackson route, getting nips, tucks and facials? We already know she wears fake hair. We already know she cannot stand Jennifer Hudson, who has proven Ms. B to be vocally and physically inferior. Gossip Fix: Instead of “Marsha….Marsha……Marsha,” it has been “Jennifer….Jennifer….Jennifer!” Hudson is REAL. Beyoncé is SMOKE and MIRRORS. Make-up and Photoshop. Implants and wigs. In the blogosphere we have a similarity: Xiaxue admits she's all about looks, so Photoshop and Plastic Surgery take care of that superficial stuff. Keyword: admits. Beyoncé won't admit a thing! Hey B... you just might be REPLACEABLE!

Don't get me wrong--- I like Beyoncé. I like Michael and Janet too. I just feel sorry for them: they can't accept themselves for who they are. They try to be something else, and it goes horribly wrong over time because they don't know when to stop. As they see themselves becoming "better," they keep wanting to be more "better."

Here's some AP wirecopy: "The Dreamgirl As You've Never Seen Her," a cover headline teases. There's also a photo spread inside the magazine.

The 25-year-old singer-actress ("Dreamgirls") posed on a Florida beach in the bikini designed by House of Dereon, the fashion label she started with her mother, Tina Knowles.

The 2007 swimsuit edition continues with a music theme inside, featuring scantily clad models posing with Kanye West, Aerosmith, Kenny Chesney, Gnarls Barkley and Panic! At the Disco.

Not that age matters, but Aerosmith? Aren't they older than the Rolling Stones? Gnarls Barkley? Again, WHY?

  1. Ain't Nothin Like The Real Thing Baby!

  2. Beyonce can thank her lucky stars for the movie Dreamgirls and B’day’s third single, “Irreplaceable,” which saved her career. Dreamgirls was hyped up to be the greatest musical movie event ever. Jennifer Hudson’s performance in the film as Effie White overshadowed Beyonce’s performance as Deena Jones.

  3. Just as the song “Beautiful” saved Christina Aguilera’s musical career, “Irreplaceable” did a complete 360 degree turn for Beyonce: “Irreplaceable” has been the number 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 for the past ten weeks!

One could easily compare this to past number-one songs and say it is a cheap sellout, but they would be ignorant to do so. The guitar, Beyonce’s vocal performance, and strong statements such as “I could have another you in a minute!” blend together beautifully in one of the most untypical, but compelling pop songs in years. Like Beyonce’s other music, you can bet that far less talented stars, such as Mariah Carey, will do everything possible to emulate this song.

  4. J- Well, well, well… what a sad, sad month for Beyoncé Knowles. First, she loses the Best Actress Globe to Meryl Streep (Duh. Like she actually had a chance!), but still has to watch while her nemesis, Jennifer Hudson, wins for her supporting yet painfully over-shadowing role as Effie in Dreamgirls. Later, she’s completely put in her place by the Academy as a music celebrity, not an actress, when she’s blatantly snubbed for an Oscar nom, while (surprise, surprise) JHud tops her once more with her own nod. Then, earlier this week, in what can only be described as a shocking twist of events, a rep at Vogue magazine confirms that, in fact, Jennifer Hudson will grace the oh-so-lusted-after March Spring Issue cover, not Ms. Booty-issues, though both were photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the issue. Insiders say Beyoncé has long held it as a career goal to be the first African-American singer to receive the distinguished honor. Sad! Hehehe. MORE
