PC 'Enforcer' Loses All

Ain't I Pretty? Some call her "the new Tawana Brawley." This is Crystal Gail Mangum, the low-life DA Nifong sacrificed his career for! A little background: In 1993, when she was 14 years old, Mangum claimed to have been kidnapped by three men, driven to a house in Creedmoor, N.C., 15 miles away from Durham, and raped. According to reports, Mangum said she'd had sex with at least three men in the days leading up to the Duke lacrosse incident, including her boyfriend and two of the men who drove her to dancing gigs. Somewhere around this time, she again became pregnant. She gave birth to a premature girl in January 2007.

Mike Nifong's goody-goody PC two-shoes have landed him right out of a job, robbed him of all credibility!

The disgraced Duke lacrosse prosecutor resigned as the Durham County D.A. Nifong says many of the allegations against him are justified, but he says he's not a liar. He apologized to the lacrosse players who were charged and later declared innocent, and he says he was trying to do the right thing in the case. Yeah, right!

The North Carolina State Bar has charged Nifong with violating rules governing professional conduct in his handling of the case.

Your Life-Lesson: Treat all people and all cases fairly. Look beyond Color, Country, Ethnicity and Caste. Don't bow to public pressure. Don't cave! Nifong was hell-bent on prosecuting a race-case that blew up in his face!

Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
