“There has been a groundswell of opposition across the state to Governor Spitzer’s dangerous plan to give driver’s licenses to undocumented aliens,” said Chairman Mondello. “Our online petition will give people the opportunity to have their voice heard on this issue, and I encourage people to join our fight to reverse the Governor’s ill-conceived plan.”
Governor Spitzer’s change in policy has been cited as being dangerous, costly, a threat to the integrity of voter registration and possibly illegal. Governor Spitzer changed the policy in a unilateral decision without consulting elected representatives or holding public hearings.
“Given the importance of the issues surrounding homeland security and immigration, Governor Spitzer’s unilateral order to grant driver’s licenses to illegal aliens is a mistake. Hopefully, the Governor will listen to the public and reverse this decision right away,” concluded Chairman Mondello.
