UPDATE 8:20 PM - The data system that nailed Spitzer and prostitution ring
Though the days are long,
Twilight sings a song,
Of the happiness that used to be;
-Giant"I'll See You In My Dreams"
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
"Let He Who Is Without Sin..."According to the Gospel of John, the Pharisees, in an attempt to discredit Jesus, brought a woman charged with adultery before him. Then they reminded Jesus that adultery was punishable by stoning under Mosaic law and challenged him to judge the woman so that they might then accuse him of disobeying the law. Jesus thought for a moment and then replied, “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.” The people crowded around him were so touched by their own consciences that they departed.
Yesterday afternoon I was out a press conference at one of the local mosques, held for the release of the Aref book. Mosques are a lot like churches, in that each one has its own unique atmosphere and personality. Reporters had to wait a few minutes past the scheduled time of the presser because several men were engaged in prayer. Afterward, I could sense a "resonance" in the room... the presence of Allah?
When I arrived back at work I immediately sensed "urgency"--- the news had just broke about Spitzer and what was about to lead to an undoing. I got my gear bag and headed down to the Capitol building.
Some bloggers are very mean, some observant and reportative (izzatword?) with regard to the Spitzer scandal. I felt like a happyface baloon who had just been pierced with a pin. Incredulous. There is no joy or glee or satisfaction in bashing anyone who is going through what the Spitzers obviously are. If you look at the videoclips on CBS2 of Silda Spitzer, at her husband's side while he issued his apology, you see a woman who was obviously up all night, no doubt many of the hours in tears.
We must forgive and move on. Whatever happens to Client Nine, wish him well, pray for him if you are so inclined. Watch your own back and those of the ones you love and admire. Why would someone with so much at stake risk all? Too bad there wasn't anybody around to say "Eliot, snap out of it... what are you thinking!"
Spitzer has hired a top legal team, and there are calls for him to resign.
If appointed Governor, David Paterson will be New York's first African-American Gov and first blind Gov. He'll work well with Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno and take to the Albany political mix in easy fashion. (Miss Info points out that Spitzer is the same former attorney general who went after radio stations for payola.)

PS - It wasn't Eliot Spitzer that did this poor blogger in. It was the "spring ahead" to Daylight Savings Time. I can't recall ever being so screwed up after a time change, and it's not just me--- my entire household is topsy-turvy! Everything seems wrong, like when you're stressed.
