Hannah Montana.Miley Cyrus.Vanity Fair

The bigger picture (of this particular image, plus one) is posted on Hollywire, where commenters say they believe it's a hoax...

Miley Cyrus will appear in the next issue of Vanity Fair. Truth or Hoax? Apparently it's true" The Orlando Sentinel blogs that Disney has issued a statement critcizing Vanity Fair: "Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines..."

Last week, A new batch of racy MySpace photos of 15-year-old Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus made the rounds. The National Ledger reports a photo that is circulating shows the singer and actress on what would appear to be a screenshot from a digital television in freeze frame from a promotional piece.

Last week, the PR dilemma du jour was a green bra; photos online showing Miley Cyrus pulling away her top to flash her underwear. This week, it could be something significantly more...

The New York Times: Some parents reacted with outrage over the weekend when the television program “Entertainment Tonight” began showing commercials promoting a scoop: Ms. Cyrus, the star of the wholesome Disney Channel blockbuster “Hannah Montana,” had posed topless, albeit with her chest covered, for the Vanity Fair photographer, Annie Leibovitz....It is doubtful that one photograph — especially one that is tame in the context of an Internet awash in nude photographs of other starlets — could dent the Hannah Montana machine, said several Wall Street analysts. Retail sales for the franchise are expected to total about $1 billion in 2008. A motion picture is in the works for 2009 and Ms. Cyrus signed a seven-figure book deal with the Disney Book Group last week.

Who's Minding Miley? How will 'Hannah Montana' transition from tween to teen?

  • Is Miley the next Britney?
  • Video: More fallout over photos

  • BuddyTV writes that the racy photos of Miley Cyrus are the latest indication that that the singer is in the midst of a transformation that could take her from a tween sensation to a more mature artist. Hmmm.... like whatever happened to Miley's predecessors, Hillary Duff (who?) and Britney (Bad Girl) Spears?

    1. Miley Cyrus is a beautiful girl who is now growing into her own. Hopefully she is not going to turn out like Britney,.. I think my kids would get depressed!

    2. I wonder how her parents allow such pictures?
Here is a collection of all her semi-nude pics:

    3. Funny... if I took a photo like that of a 15 year old girl and published it in a magazine I'd be immediately arrested for child pornography. I guess being in Hollywood makes a photo of a naked 15 year old girl draped in a bed sheet looking like something was just done to her appropriate and 'artsy'.

For me personally, being an artist, yes it is a classic art/photo pose. The real problem is the subject's age. If Miley was 18+ sure no problem. She's an adult and can make her own decisions. Until then it is the responsibility of ADULTS to make the right decisions for her. So what if her parents were there and saw the photo when it was shot. I guarantee they didn't see it AFTER the retouching. The whole 'topless' set should NEVER have been allowed in the first place. Vanity Fair should be ashamed of themselves. They better be careful or someone is going to press charges.

I bet after all this broo-haha they don't publish the cover with this photo.

The photo just looks creepy like she's just been molested or raped.

      crotch flashed^_^

    7. All these people giving Miley Cyrus credit for being a great singer (yada yada) but then use the excuse of her not knowing what she is doing is silly. She knows and 99% of the responsibility lies within her.

    8. miley gone wild lol... bad bad bad..

      not a good role model

    9. Hey dave.. i really hope that it is a hoax.. lindsay has gone off, it'll be terribly disappointing if miley does too and she has much talent as a singer

    10. You people are crazy! Miley looks great in her Vanity Fair photo. I'm 12 years old and I don't see what the big deal is...she has NOTHING to apologize for. The people who think this picture is "sexual" have got SERIOUS problems!!!

    11. this is insane! she has a blanket over her. what's the difference between a blanket and a dress? both serve the same purpose. there are wars going on, people starving, genocide, pregnant 10 year olds, and melting ice caps, and everyone is worried about how ms. cyrus chose to cover herself in a photo shoot.

    12. Miley cyrus is so beautiful girl.In every dress she looks very nice and pretty.Every person like Hannah Montana Episode because of miley and also for her singing.

    13. We Know that she is a sexiest woman. When I first heard about the picture controversy, I didn't think that it was too much of a big deal. Yes, she's under age and, as a high school teacher, I know the last message girls need is: "be sexier," but the pictures weren't in the nude.
