What a day! I woke up to find that my bank, Washington Mutual, "went under." Where's Jimmy Stewart when you need him? The ongoing collapse, bail-out and buy-out of Wall Street investment banks, threatening a U.S. and possibly worldwide recession, has triggered no lack of debates in Japanese blogs on the country's strong financial connection with its overseas ally. Michelle Malkin weighs in with "The Ant and the Grasshopper, 2008 edition"...

So, McCain WILL debate Obama tonight, after all! I'm certain that some will be liveblogging the debate. I will probably wait until Saturday or Sunday before offering my assessment of the event. I'm glad that McCain decided to attend. Of course, Obama could have always debated Joe Biden...

Weather event KYLE is poised to strike along the eastern seaboard, something we'll no doubt be watching over the weekend. All the news about Wall Street and out of Washington has taken public attention away from the recent victims of Hurricane Ike. I'm working on a story for the radio that will probably air on Monday.
