Hey Mike!

With the Albany County Comptroller distracted by his audit of the District Attorney's office, you may want to ask Mike Conners why his old nemesis, the GAS STATION, is RIPPING YOU OFF! If you live in the Capital Region, one of the leading main brand gasoline stations today paid $3 a gallon for their gas, which means they're gouging you by over 60 cents a gallon!!! I think they know Mike is busy, otherwise he'd be on the case, breathing down their oily necks!

Speaking of oil, WoW has the price come down per barrel or what? And in spite of that, we the consumer, are about to be raked over the financial coals this winter!

By the way, did you ever stop and think that it was actually the HIGH PRICE OF GASOLINE that broke the camel's back? Even with the tough mortgage situation, the economy wasn't on its way down the toilet until $4 a gallon pulled the flush handle!

$4 gas made consumers cut back - cut back on driving - cut back on purchases - it made the price of groceries go up due to increased transportation costs. Those subprime mortgage holders who had managed to keep hangin' onto their homes got washed away in the $4 a gallon tide.

Let's also toss a little blame in General Motors direction for crushing their wondeful little electric car - the technology by now would be greatly improved and we might have avoided the financial tangle we're now in. Don't count on that GM "Volt" because it won't be as good as the EV1 - there will be some "catch"- EV1 couldn't cause money to be spent elsewhere, while Volt may end up collasping the US power grid. By the way, with all the Hoopla over Volt, it was reported on TV Sunday that GM doesn't even have a working prototype! So I guess that means the ones we've beenseeing are dummies - shells that don't really work...

COMMENTING FEES

Payable by either clicking the BitCoin "tip me" button or the PayPal "donate" button in the sidebar.

WAIT, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO COMMENT?
Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

I NEED TO BE HEARD! BUT I DONT WANT TO PAY.
Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
