Transgenics Among Us?

Shades of "Dark Angel" --- last week whilst googling for something else I ran across an article in a British newspaper (I failed to bookmark it *slap*slap* because I was really busy) whre the Pope in Rome had suggested to gentic researchers that human / animal chimeras be allowed to go home and be raised by their human mothers (if the mothers expressed interest in doing do). I kid you not, and this was NOT a "satire" article or newspaper. This must certainly mean that somewhere on the planet covert research is being done on these half-human half-animal creatures and that they are wither being institutionalized or euthanized when research is done. I have read elsewhere that her in the US (and possibly Canada) Chimeras must be destroyed before they are born. One person suggested this type of research is being performed in France and Switzerland, and possibly Belgium. Truth or fiction? And now a re-mix:
