I have decided to appeal for donations to help defray the cost for new equipment in order to continue blogging here at dave-lucas.blogspot.com. My goal is to raise US$1200 to cover the cost of a new laptop with wi-fi and supporting software to enable "blogging on the go." When I have secured that amount, I am looking into establishing a new "community blog" (sort of like a social network or forum, but with a more targeted writing community behind it).

I look at asking for donations this way: I write for your enjoyment, and if you like the stories I tell (all of them true), the news I bring, and if you appreciate my efforts, then why not reward me?

The “donate” button is the modern day equivalent of a street musician who offers a hat or instrument case to catch ‘tips’ or donations.

If you are wondering how you can donate, you give directly donate to the site via Paypal by using the button at the top right column. As an incentive to those who donate, everyone who donates more than $5 will be entered to win a prize. I haven't decided what the prize will be, but I assure you it will be something collectible in nature (hence valuable, either now or later on down the road!)
