Pandemic or Pandemonium?
The dreaded flu outbreak hasn't happened. There is speculation that H1N1 will now "turn lethal in the fall." Hah? How serious is it? On a 1-10 scale, it's a 9 in Mexico and a point 5 (0.5) in the USA. The National Guard is ready, we've got a stockpile of Tamiflu, and - we're waiting. It's definitely the wrong time of year for a massive outbreak. So now we must fear Autumn? Despite comparisons to Hurricane Katrina, H1N1 swine Mexiflu cannot be forecast as if it were an approaching storm. By now, if you go by earlier estimates, we should have overtaken by flu and death. It hasn't happened. The speculators did create an atmosphere of fear, but as of now, the pandemonium and civil unrest they hinted at hasn't come to fruition. Eat healthy. Stay well. Do what President Obama suggested. Wash your hands. Stay home if you're sick. Don't be afraid until it's really time to be!
