Just wanna thank all of you who have taken the time to make a comment, drop a line in C-Box, or tweet back at me! My humble weblog, at the moment, is good. I may make some adjustments to the sidebar. Like moving up the "friend connect" related items, MyBlogLog and a couple of other widgets. That will come eventually (when I get a round tuit)!
I found "Link Within" one day when I was bloghopping, and I really LIKE it a lot! Visible at the bottom of each posted article, it shows readers who land on a particular post that there may be other articles they'd enjoy. 3 out of every 5 of my visitors now actually clicks on a "Link Within" URL! Thank-you "Link Within" people!
Twitter is THE HOT TICKET right at this moment in 2009 and FaceBook seems to be the place where everyone hangs out (MySpace has been zzzzzzzzzzz)... Like many other twitter-ers and bloggers, I've been uploading more and more with my
If you're new to my blog, it's the same as it always was, but somehow, better. I love pop culture, blogging, news, music, politics, national, local, global - so you'll find a little bit of everything here - kinda like the dollar store of the internet. There's a donate button up at the right hand corner if you'd like to contribute even a small amount. In the months to come (hopefully before the end of October) I hope to have a new netbook that will allow me to futher connect with YOU via Skype.
Some of the services / stuff /widgets on my blog - well, I just don't really use them anymore, but I leave them there, because, who knows? What's gathering dust today could be red hot next week! Some are throwbacks to 2004-5 (an eternity on the net!)...
You may have noticed (as I have) that many websites (mostly commercial ones, like certain banks and amazon.com) are no longer accessible via older browsers. You need Internet Explorer 8 to be able to load some of them. Geez! I still know an awful lot of netizens who CAN'T use it becaus ethey're using an older operating system! Thankfully MY blog still loads (albeit slowly sometimes) on older computers with older OS's.
If you mouseover links on my blog here and see the "snapshots" window pop up, you can play videos and music and read blogposts and articles THROUGH that window WITHOUT LEAVING MY PAGE! It's a really helpful service, especially if there's a link to a slow-loading page! By the way, I've been thinking of putting "WARNINGS" by links of slow-loading pages, telling readers to view them through the "snapshot" window. What do you think about that? And are YOU encountering any problems your readers are having when trying to view YOUR blog? MySpace pages can be very difficult to load. I've kept mine as simple as possible. If you hunt and peck around on this site you'll find links to my Facebook, MySpace and MyBlogLog pages!
THINGS YOU SHOULDN'T WORRY ABOUT include PR rank if you're a blogger and LOSING friends or followers on Facebook or Twitter. People come and go in your life, and they'll do that in your virtual life too. Let them go and if they ever really valued you, they'll be back. As for PR rank, I've had high ones and low ones. To me, there hasn't been much of a difference.
I found a few good Twitter Tools through mashable I'd like to make you aware of:
1. Twitter Karma - Twitter Karma is a great app that lets you sort through all of your follows and see who’s not following you in return, who you have a mutual follow/follow-back relationship with, and who is following you that you’re not following back.
2. Friend or Follow - Friend or Follow does essentially the same thing as Twitter Karma, helping you figure out who your friends, follows, and fans are on Twitter. The difference is in the presentation, and it might be a little easier to use for those with a large number of follows or followers.
3. Qwitter - Once you’ve done your initial cleaning, Qwitter is a nice app that will update you via email whenever someone stops following you. It will even let you know what you tweeted that caused them to stop following you, which could be useful (if you lose five followers every time you tweet about your cat, for example, that might be a hint to stop talking so much about your cat if you want to retain followers).
4. There've been scattered reports that Qwitter hasn’t been as reliable lately as it had been in the past. An alternative service that also notifies you when you lose a follower is Twitterless. If you really want to keep on top of when your followers jump ship, it might be a good idea to sign up for both services to make sure you have all your bases covered.
5. HOW TO: Get the Most Out of Twitter #Hashtags
6. Twitoria - Twitoria scans through your Twitter account and finds anyone who has been inactive for the past week, two weeks, month, two months, six months, or year.
I didn't post the entire mashable list because the other tools aren't useful (not for me anyway!)
