Boomers know that circa 1968, WRPI became prominent in breaking new music to the Capital Region. Who of that era doesn't recall hearing a fistful of "Fairport Convention" cuts nearly every bloody hour of the day? But once beyond FC, there was Hendrix, the Doors, Joplin, Airplane and a laundry-list of the greatest bands you never knew: The Incredible String Band, It's A Beautiful Day, Rare Bird, Mother Earth, Love, and even those Beatles Christmas Records formerly only available via tuning the old AM radio to 890 Chicago's WLS on those long cold winter nights!
Now through August, WRPI will host a special program titled “Summer of Woodstock” highlighting performances from the historic festival Sunday evenings from 8 to 10 p.m. EDT on 91.5 FM. Read more about it
