Finally some progress in the re-construction of the Albany Public Library's New Scotland Avenue branch. Had things timed out better, the library could have / should have /would have(?) taken over the building occupied by St. Teresa's (The old "Junior High" on the corner of N. Scotland & Hollywood). Plenty of space in there: the Gym could have been converted into a 2-floor main library, with the auditorium becoming a community center fro forums, meetings... it could have served as a weekend "coffee house" where young people could have gathered. Instead, we may be looking at a case of neighborhood blight, so all you fatkat landlords gouging renters in that area, enjoy it while you can! ["The closing of St Teresa's church/school which erodes neighborhood identity, resident-ial integrity and quality of life, making theNew Scotland Avenue corridor ripe for thespillover of crime and blight from the ParkSouth urban renewal project."]
