I was driving along Western Avenue in Guilderland around 5:30pm when I ran head-on into a rumbling thunder and lightning hailstorm. The lightning strikes were numerous and all around. We really got pelted by the hail: it sounded like tiny jackhammers rat-a-tatting against the car. I arrived back home just before 6 and found huge hailstones in the backyard grass. I took a picture but didn't have a quarter handy, much less a golf ball, which would have been the same sizes as the two samples in my picture. ----------
