I've lost 5 pounds in about seven days. I did ONE simple thing: no snacking after 7pm! That's it! Everything else is the same, plus if I get thirsty, I have a BIG glass of cold water, from the tap! (BTW I'm not FAT... just wanted to shed a few inches around the midsection).Sometimes eating can be very beneficial. Case in point::: this Friday, July 24, at 7:00 PM Grand Street Kid’s Club, a summer program of Grand Street Community Arts, will host a food exposition and fundraiser event, “Art You Can Eat!” at Grand Street Community Arts Center on 68 Grand Street, Albany, NY 12202. The event will feature music, local food, and a contest for the best edible art.
Proceeds from the event will go to benefit GSCA’s Summer Kid’s Club program, which offers youth ages 5-12 in the south end of Albany a supportive environment to explore a variety of artistic mediums such as poetry, paint, collage, music and performing arts. In its second year, this FREE program collaborates with local artists, performers, and organizers to open the world of arts to children and offer a program unlike any other in our community.
GSCA is seeking submissions from creative cooks. Their creations will be on display Friday night. Yum!
12:30pm TODAY - Kirsten VS FAT::: U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand gets serious about overeating. (Not her overeating!) She's focusing on the need to address childhood obesity. With nearly 60 percent of New Yorkers overweight and obesity among children ages six to 11 more than doubling over the last 30 years, Senator Gillibrand will unveil a strategy to address childhood obesity and improve the health and nutrition of New York children during a news conference call on Tuesday. Senator Gillibrand, the first New York senator to serve on the Agriculture Committee in nearly 40 years, will release county-by-county data detailing obesity rates across New York. This kind of story favors radio news more than TV.
Looking Ahead
Due to popular demand, America's premier comedian is hitting the road in a return to his first love - stand-up comedy. Recently hailed as "the master stand-up comic of his generation" and "the best comedian of our time" in a Washington Post article by Tom Shales, JERRY SEINFELD has an uncanny ability to joke about the little things in life that relate to audiences everywhere.
Seinfeld now sets his sights on performing his material across the country in 2009 including his stop at Albany's Palace Theatre 7:30pm on October 2! [TICKETS: $77, $62 & $47]
