"The enlightened give thanks for what most people take for granted ...... As you begin to be grateful for what most people take for granted, that vibration of gratitude makes you more receptive to good in your life" - Michael BeckwithMany philosophers have said "what you think is what you are." There's a quote I like by James Arthur Ray that goes something like "what you are today is the result of what you've done in the past" so if you don't like your current situation, you make and take steps to change it NOW.
This whole modern social-networking blogging internet thing is kind of like that. The one thing you DON'T want to do is PANIC if something goes wrong. Like Thursday when twitter collapsed. Tweeters were going bonkers! I've often written that you should always have a back-up, a plan B, and don't get too dependent on a product or a service or a widget.
For the past five years I've tried to build this blog into an interactive forum, but it only seems to work that way sometimes. So one day I decided to "forget it." I've left the comment services and the trackback and technorati and C-box... all there if anyone should want to use them. Yesterday evening I added a neat little service from outbrain.com that adds a star-based rating system, which I'm not really that concerned about: I kinda dig the little links to other on-topic articles the widget provides: it adds value to the LinkWithin service that I've been using for a couple of months.
PageRank, hits, backlinks, trackbacks, blogrolls, all have (or have had) their times and levels of importance, as do twitter, friendfeed, Facebook etc. Whether 8 people a day are reading your blog or 888,888 just blog like a rock star, like there's no tomorrow!

Dear Dave,I always appreciate those "honorable mentions" from other bloggers!
Thank you very much for your excellent piece on our rally yesterday!
You took all that material and condensed it down to its essence. It is such a difficult topic, and you made it so understandable.
Thank you so much!
