"Voters won't see Ellis on television, which is part of the reason his teams of supporters have instead turned to more precise methods of campaigning to get their message out." - Times UnionThe days of "dueling press conferences" are nearly over. No doubt about it, it's the final stages of the City of Albany Mayoral Primary. The Times Union has a Sunday piece about the race (read it here)... Jennings is coming off a 21-point Siena Poll lead over Ellis, and is outspending the challenger 10 to 1. The Times Union has endorsed Jennings.
This morning I conducted my own random, unscientific "uptown" poll. I drove up and down several streets that bridge Hackett Boulevard and Whitehall Road, counting the lawn signs. In that department, Ellis is outgrassing Jennings 10 to 1.
What (if anything) could this mean? Maybe just that the Ellis campaign has excelled in identifying likely voters for Corey, OR, maybe the campaign's "advertising method" is working. One thing to watch on primary day is the weather. If skies are rainy, it's all Jennings. If the day is clear and not too cool, you can't call it. Whatever happens, it's been an exciting race that has brought the ISSUES out and put them on display. Hopefully the people won't let next year's mayor put the issues back on the back burner. I was surprised at the Siena poll's finding the proposed convention center has so much opposition. Siena identified the most critical issue in the eyes of voters, it seems!
A Lenny Kravitz moment::: Keep in mind that whoever LOSES may still be on the November ballot anyway, thanks to minor party affiliations!
