BLOG*SPOT LAMENT

OLD BLOGGER TEMPATES WILL FAIL?

I got quite a shock the other night when I attempted to check out a new "blogger-in-draft" feature (b-i-d is the service whereby you can preview new features being added to the popular blogging platform PRIOR to their public avail) that allows blog*spot "jumps".

I was shocked that the post template as displayed in Blogger-In-Draft is stipped of all the uusual font and color features, and appears in COURIER typeset. I could not prepare a post because the usual box where the post title is inserted was no longer available.

This COULD mean that very soon, everyone using an older style blogger template (like me, of course) will not be able to update their blogs UNLESS they "migrate" (translate that into "lose a lot of info + start from scratch") to the newer template system that was installed about 18 months or so ago.

This is just like when Microsoft yanks support for an O-S. The end user always ends up screwed, uh - in the end - get it? Is Blogger about to do the same thing to its minions? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe this was just some kind of glitch. But if they are planning to pull the templates out from under millions of bloggers and citizen-journalists, then maybe it's time to look into migration to WordPress???
