Bye Bye Boopsie's, Chief Tuffey & Carrot Cake Ice Cream

One of the City of Albany's longest standing eyesores is going...going...gone! Didn't take much Tuesday afternoon to tear down the old building at the corner of New Scotland and Whitehall...

Hello Condos!

Builder extraordinaire and Assemblyman George Amedore stands beside the sign heralding the soon-to-be contructed Whitehall Pointe... George promises an "eXtreme makeover" of the old Booper... I passed along the often suggested idea of including a "pocket park" as part of the package...

I was there for WAMC along with Ken Screven from WRGB, Jim Knapp from WGY and other members of the local newsmedia to catch a sound bite of Mayor Jennings reaction to the resignation of Albany Police Chief Jim Tuffey. Turns out the media got a three-fer: The Mayor, Whitehall Pointe, and THEN --- the Mayor serving up scoops of Stewart's Ice Cream across the street!

Best part of visiting Stewart's: I got to say hello in person to a former co-worker, Tom Mailey, who is now Stewart's official spokesperson! Oh, and --- Tommy Tweets! Unfortunately, Tom's last tweet was August 7th... The folks at All Over Albany blog grilled the Tomster about Stewart's delicious Carrot cake Ice Cream.
