Say WHAT?

Some say it's not what you say but how you say it... others say "think before you speak" --- Michelle Malkin highlights a big boo-boo by Michelle Obama in her failed pitch to the International Olympic Committee:
“Some of my best memories are sitting on my dad’s lap, cheering on Olga and Nadia, Carl Lewis, and others for their brilliance and perfection.”
MM points out that the First Lady was 20 years old when Lewis first competed in the Olympics in 1984. A little big to be sitting on Pop, huh?

Of course you DO know WHY Chicago WASN'T chosen to host the Olympics, don't you? Another "play on words" post: Brazilians goof on Obama: “Yes We Créu”... Michelle is also running another Sunday Open Thread ahere anyone can hop on board the discussion... By the way, I see Mrs. Malkin has been checking out WaPO, which has news of another military loss in Afghanistan.

Speaking of Sunday, I've only just begun going thru the my Sunday newspapers (this week I have The Post, NYTimes, Gazette and Times Union)::: The New York Post headline is "Dave's Love Nest" (not ME, Letterman!), and above that "Mark Sanchez's blond bombshell exposed" (all the juicy gossipy details that are fit to print, I guess!) but the funniest thing I saw at first glance appears on page 11, a color photo of two stage hands struggling to hoist up tub-of-lard Mariah Carey for a live TV performance (you gotta read the caption in the post). I'll post a monday morning quarterback of the Sunday news either tonight or tomorrow morning...

I'm also preparing a "Before and After" post about various celebrities such as Fergie, Rhianna, Julie Chen and Dawn Yang - with pictures of how they looked BEFORE plastic surgery (or as the little neighbor kid calls it, "plastersergie").

I've decided to abandon that idiotic "lifestream" theme for my posterous blog. I've come up with something dozens of times better, now that I can post from both my Virgin Mobile AND my new Fly Ying HiPhone (pictured below)

COMMENTING FEES
Per comment rate: $2
Payable by either clicking the BitCoin "tip me" button or the PayPal "donate" button in the sidebar.

WAIT, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO COMMENT?
Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

I NEED TO BE HEARD! BUT I DONT WANT TO PAY.
Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
