Above Left, Wendy Cheng (Xiaxue). Right, Monica Tang.

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" - Charles Caleb Colton, Lacon, volume I, no. 183 (1780 - 1832).

We've seen it before: someone becomes fascinated with another person and becomes a "fan" or "follower." Nothing wrong with that, unless it is taken to extremes.

I recall seeing an old old newsprint sheet of some National Enquirer type of weekly that ran a story in the 1960s stating that Jimmy Dean (the singer and sausage Guy) was such a big James Dean fan that he changed his name from Douglas Goodall to Jimmy Dean. There are people who insist Lagy Gaga is trying to be Madonna, and that Madonna and Britney Spears modeled their early "look" after Debbie Harry. There are some people so skillful at re-inventing themselves in a model after someone else that the public doesn't notice. It even happens in books. "The Secret" for example is merely a re-hashing of old Wallace Wattles stuff written in the early 1900s and re-packaged by a band of new age "gurus" like James Arthur Ray. "Everything old is new again!"

Somewhere in summertime back on my blog I dubbed Monica Tang "the Norse Xiaxue." Now the one and only Xiaxue has discovered Monica.

As Seen on Twitter:
OK like a bit freaked out right now... Just saw a girl's blog... And she's like totally similar to me?!??!

Chinese w blonde hair, same dog (hers still pup), same dog BED, same camera, blinged, same computer table, same mp3 player, blinged....

She did say she got her inspiration from me though. I knew I was inspiring but not THAT inspiring! LOLOL

Alright her link is http://monicatang.com/. I'm not offended or anything though, coz she clearly has her own style... Just a bit freaked.

http://twitpic.com/pmt2g - Ok here's a pic of her dog + same pink dog bed as Pumpkin...

http://twitpic.com/pmtd6 - Ok here's her with LX3, silver like mine, blinged and threaded with pearls like mine.
FYI::: There's also Monica's Blog*Spot Blog!

COMMENTING FEES
Per comment rate: $2
Payable by either clicking the BitCoin "tip me" button or the PayPal "donate" button in the sidebar.

WAIT, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO COMMENT?
Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

I NEED TO BE HEARD! BUT I DONT WANT TO PAY.
Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
