Turn Up The Radio!

One of the greatest things about living in New York State is RADIO!

In Albany, there are many many stations to choose from, especially on the AM dial. I have one of those little wind-up radios that I usually have with me at night when I'm home working on projects, blogging or doing WAMC "homework" - Most of the time I'm listening on the AM dial, especially this time of year! WAMC has an AM presence on 1400, the old WABY frequency, and comes in clear as a bell on my radio. Capital News 9 runs audio on am 900. So news and weather are always easy to find!

I usually turn on the radio at 6, catch NERLE on WAMC, then at 6:30 I check Michael Savage to see what he's talking about. I also check to see if there's a Siena or SUNY game. Particularly at this time of year, December & January, If I don't have other plans, I'll leave the radio on... If WGY is broadcasting a Syracuse game, and there's "nothing else on" I can usually find a station running Savage down around the 1100's. Most of my FM listening is done earlier ion the day OR, if I'm in the car, after 9pm. I have three favorite FM stations, WAMC, WCDB and WRPI.

When I'm downstate, it's a different story. Whether in Mahopac or Manhattan, I'm on the FM band. New York City radio spanks Albany radio's butt when it comes to FM!!! The music stations are incredible, whether you like HipHop, Pop or Classical. WFUV is my favorite "public radio" station when I'm in NYC! On those long nighttime trips back to Albany from the City, there have been times when Hot97 stays with us all the way up the Taconic, and if conditions are right, WPLJ will hang on to 95.5 almost all the way to Claverack before WYJB "takes over" the airwaves.

Wherever YOU are, I hope radio in your neck of the woods is just as exciting and informative as it is here in New York!

COMMENTING FEES
Per comment rate: $2
Payable by either clicking the BitCoin "tip me" button or the PayPal "donate" button in the sidebar.

WAIT, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO COMMENT?
Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

I NEED TO BE HEARD! BUT I DONT WANT TO PAY.
Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
