Happy Chinese New Year 4708

The past 18 months have been a bumpy of ride for many of us. Here's to a New Beginning! Forget about the material things you may have lost. Be thankful for the friends and family you have with you, around you.

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. they are messengers of overwhelming grief and unspeakable love.” – Washington Irving

==> Having a BAD day? Looky HERE!

Today is a great day for a new beginning! Winter has not much longer to go... We made it through the last year, we can get through anything! It's both Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year! The year of the Tiger, according to the Chinese Zodiac. There are specific traditions associated with CNY.

The Chinese calendar - like the Hebrew - is a combined solar/lunar calendar in that it strives to have its years coincide with the tropical year.

“Nothing is permanent in this wicked world. Not even our troubles.” ~ Charlie Chaplin

  1. And a Happy New Year to you! Are you a Tiger??? I plan to be a tiger all year long. This year, the claws are coming out, and I'm going to reach for and grab every bit of success that I can! Don't try to stop me! Grrrrrrr! ;)

I have learned that you must be very careful about telling people what animal of the Chinese zodiac you are, because then they can more easily guess your age!

    Tigers right now are either 11, 23, 35, 47, 59, 71 or 83. Hmmmmm....
Not much room to lie when the gaps are 12 years apart!!! LOL!

Take care and enjoy the festivities!

  2. Grrrrrr back atcha! Thanks for checking in!

  3. Happy Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day! Let's start the year with a positive outlook in life!

Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
