Time for YOUR 15 minutes of fame!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Popstation. All opinions are 100% mine.

It was pop-art icon Andy Warhol who once predicted that, in time, everyone would have his or her "15 minutes of fame." In the modern digital age, this is essentially true. We all have a shot at being famous! There are many avenues leading to fame: You can try out for American Idol, you can upload a video to YouTube and hope someone important sees it. You can start a MySpace page or a blog... but let's say you want to showcase your vocal talent. Maybe you don't have a band. Maybe you can't play a guitar or piano to accompany yourself. But you KNOW you can SING! What to do?

You've gotta check out PopStation! It's an amazing website that you access and enjoy right from the comfort of your own PC or laptop! All you need is a computer-based microphone. The rest comes easy! Actually, PopStation is more than a website. It's a network... completely FREE to join... but loaded with benefits! It's a chance for you to be HEARD!

That's right - you create a profile, then you can grab a pre-recorded song from a collection of original titles. Categories include HipHop, Pop, Rock and Country. You rehearse your song and re-record it with your own vocal track. PopStation makes it easy; the entire process is explained on the website! You really gotta go there to truly experience the online music scene in a way you never thought possible! You can add an image to your song and you can even promote your music both on and off-site!

Popstation is an online music & entertainment singing experience, where people just like you have a chance to sing their way to the top of The Charts and qualify for an Album Deal. Original Popstation songs are released Monday – Thursday (M – Hip Hop & R&B, T – Country, W – Pop, Th – Rock) and are available in practice rooms for 2 weeks. People are encouraged to “make them your own”. Songs entered into a contest will get voted on by the PopStation audience – no celebrity judges or panels.

Songs are automatically entered on PopStation's charts. Rnking depends on votes. Artists are encouraged to promote their song by using PopStation press releases buttons/badges and through posts on viral sites like Twitter, facebook and MySpace! (The PopStation website CAN be viewed by evryone! Let friends and family know!)

So are YOU ready to be a STAR? PopStation's a-waitin'!

OOps! Almost forgot::: The BIG Deal is awarded every 3 months, one #1 Artist will earn what people dare to dream of. Win "The BIG Deal" and "The Artist Formerly Known As You" and a guest will enjoy an all expenses paid three night stay in NYC at a ridiculously hip hotel. You will be picked up in a luxury car service and whisked off to a professional recording studio where you will spend two days recording your very own album with the help of a professional production team. *[see official rules]

When your album is done with the final mixing, postproduction and design it will be featured on the Artists page of Popstation for the world to see.

Artists that prove themselves to be vocal superstars, add emotion to the music, and make the songs their own have a better shot at being selected.

Win "The BIG Deal" and you'll get a crash course in the music industry, gain valuable insider knowledge about how to promote yourself and your music, and experience the dream.

Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
