PARADE Magazine "What People Earn" Annual Salary Survey

Something is wrong with this picture... (not the one on the left!)

Imagine being a WEEKEND radio reporter - "As weekend Anchor/Producer I get to share with you the end of the week happenings and what is to come for the start of the week . So you can call me the "Yin and the Yang" of News Radio. I love to cover current events, human interest (my favorite), update on political coverage and share community events in Delaware. Providing information to improve the quality of life for you, our listeners and on-line viewers." and making $75,000 a year, as reported in PARADE Magazine!

Before y'all rush off to sign up for broadcasting school::: I wonder. Did Parade get the figures mixed up? That's a lotta dough for a weekend gig! But hey, if that's what Nancy Lopez makes, more power to 'er... maybe that's the average salary for radio folk working for Clear Channel in Wilmington... ya think????

I THINK Parade should explain HOW these people ARRIVE at the salaries they're getting. THAT would be verrrry interesting!

  1. Apparently great minds think alike. I too blogged about this Parade Salary Survey. Realizing that it was anything but scientific, it still was an interesting read.

Among other things, I focused in on Caitlin, who lists herself as a voice actor and made $10,000.

In my experience, this is the first time I've ever seen anything that approaches a "real" salary for the average voice actor.

I'm afraid, just like the man who cleans up after the elephant at the circus, broadcasters and v.o. talent alike console themelves by saying "Hey, it's show business"
