LPGA GOLFER DIES ::: her blog has gone without any updating for 13 months and her Twitter page has disappeared. 25-year old Erica Lasberg was found dead Sunday in Henderson, NV. Blasberg was scheduled to fly Sunday to Mobile, AL and tee off Monday in qualifying rounds at the Bell Micro LPGA Classic. According to the New York Times, Fellow-golfer Irene Cho’s caddie, Missy Pederson, was supposed to carry Blasberg’s bag at the event. She said she retrieved a text message from Blasberg on Sunday morning saying that she was not coming.
The text was sent in the middle of the night, which worried Pederson, who sent Blasberg a text message saying she hoped everything was O.K. Pederson never received a reply. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that "Erica's representatives took great pains to keep her personal life off the Internet." The article goes on: "In the Q and A section of her website, Erica responded to a fan, Mike Barry of Corona, Ca, who seemed frustrated that his questions weren't answered." (Bells & Whistles going off here!)
The police are not saying how Blasberg died. Erica's father, Mel Blasberg, is backing away from a statement he made Monday suggesting that his daughter might have committed suicide. The Clark County coroner, Michael Murphy, told The Associated Press a ruling on a cause of death was pending blood and tissue tests that could take four to six weeks to complete.
