Why can't a guy be President and have a good time? Don't you just love a "hands-on" president?

Hey looky here! I found another (cyber) me! That makes more than 122 of us!

"Contrary to popular belief, video didn't kill the radio star, YouTube didn't knock off TV and Twitter didn't shut down blogging. However, in each case the steady advance of new technology definitely forced the incumbents to evolve." Micro Persuasion uploads another post to remember entitled "Hot or Not: E-mail Marketing vs. Social-Media Marketing" .... hmmm... wonder what Larry or Karen or Justin or Aldon or Liane or Onibalusi would have to say about this?

On the way to work this morning the bus took a detour due to construction. Along one of the streets we passed through, there was one of those movable led signs displaying safety messages by the Albany Police Department. There was no way I could pull my mobi out and snap a quick picture, so I will explain that the first one or two panels of leds on the message board weren't working correctly. The sign beamed this message, worthy of philosophical interpretation: "SECURE YOUR LONGINGS"*** - ah, if only such a message had been displayed a few years back in Plattsburgh or Colonie...
*** sign shoulda said "secure your belongings" ;)

THE ENEMY WITHIN ::: Hospitals in Britain are on alert after a new drug-resistant "superbug" was found in around 50 patients, many of whom recently had cosmetic surgery (like breast enhancement) in Pakistan and India.

Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
