The Morlocks split from the surface people on Earth began in the early 21st Century, in America's Western Desert area, in a city once known as Las Vega. The city had been on the losing end of a home foreclosure crisis. The city's homeless population swelled to nearly 14-thousand, forcing many to go to extremes in seeking shelter. In this archival footage, CBS News correspondent Seth Doane ventured underneath the city.
Armed with a flashlight, tape recorder and expandable baton for protection, Las Vegas writer and editor Matthew O’Brien also explored the underground town. Beneath the Neon: Life and Death in the Tunnels of Las Vegas chronicles his adventures in this uncharted underworld. He follows the footsteps of a psycho killer. He two-steps under the MGM Grand at 3 in the morning. He chases the ghosts of Benny Binion, Bugsy Siegel, Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Howard Hughes.
