The Origin of the Morlocks

The Morlocks split from the surface people on Earth began in the early 21st Century, in America's Western Desert area, in a city once known as Las Vega. The city had been on the losing end of a home foreclosure crisis. The city's homeless population swelled to nearly 14-thousand, forcing many to go to extremes in seeking shelter. In this archival footage, CBS News correspondent Seth Doane ventured underneath the city.

Armed with a flashlight, tape recorder and expandable baton for protection, Las Vegas writer and editor Matthew O’Brien also explored the underground town.
