Pondering My Next Move

Thanks for stopping by! I've decided to begin tweaking the blog to more accurately target an audience. (Don't worry: #musicmonday, Around The Blogosphere, Wordless Wednesday, Pop Clips and my articles about politics and pop culture will remain.)

"What kind of audience," you ask? A community of readers who will return once a day or at least once every other day, to read, comment or otherwise INTERACT with the material here.

Now, that's a tall order! I have a "base" of sorts to begin with:

1 - ENTRECARD - at least 77 consistent daily droppers - but that's what most of them do - hit and run - drop and go. Having said that, I have met some wonderful bloggers via Entrecard: The Fitness Diva, Georyl, Aldon, Larry, Beng-Gee, Lainy and several others whose blogs I enjoy visiting (and sometimes even forget to drop an EC on while I'm there!)

2 - GOOGLE FRIEND CONNECT - over 100 - but they sign in. join up, and rarely come back. I now make the G connection only if I regularly visit the other person's blog.

3 - TWITTERATI - a precious few of my followers on twitter click through to read my blogposts - but that's a good thing!

4 - FACEBOOK - a deliberately small, controlled group there. I don't bug them about reading my blog. With the privacy and security concerns that have arisen, I keep a low profile on FBK.

5 - LONG TERM CONTACTS - another handful of bloggers who I have remained connected to since around 2005, including Xiaxue and Michelle Malkin... I used to visit Xiaxue's blog before anybody knew who she was and I used to visit MM's blog when it was nothing more than a website showcase for her columns.

Most of the other groups or social networks (or whatever labels you might affix to such entities) have never panned out as far as forming any long-term relationships with other blogs and/or bloggers.

Part of the drive to attract new regular readers will entail a survey which I'm in the process of writing now.

If YOU have any comments or suggestions, I'd like to hear from you!

I visit via entrecard and I often read posts - particularly ones that have titles that catch my interest - like yours today.

But, time often prevents me leaving a comment. I do however, ponder and mull over issues raised in posts by some bloggers.

Don't overlook the power of the silent majority.
