Mad Man Murdoch at the Mic, Rick James on guitar!One of my favorite episodes of the original "A-Team" aired last night on Channel 10.3 RTV in the Capital Region.
In "The Heart of Rock N' Roll," Singer Rick James asks the A-Team to help old rock-and-roll legend C.J. Mack (played by Isaac Hayes aka "chef" on South Park), whose life in prison has suddenly become very dangerous.
There's a wealth of music in this episode, including 'The Heart of Rockn' Roll' by Huey Lewis and the News; 'Super Freak' and 'Glow' by Rick James. Isaac Hayes performs 'Don't Let Go' and 'Steamroller Blues' and we even hear 'Jailhouse Rock' by Elvis Presley as the team enter the prison grounds!
"A-Team" was one of the few TV shows of its day to use contemporary hit music in individual episodes. There's another ep,"Incident at Crystal Lake," which features Blondie's "One Way or Another."
