A bright future, extinguished in the blink of an eye.
I chose to run as a Green Party candidate rather than as a Democrat or Republican because I felt the campaign I want to run most aligns itself with the Green Party's 10 Key Values. Maryland is a large community of several million people and we can all make a difference together. Help should not be a dirty word. There is not one among us who has not needed help at some point. When we help others we benefit ourselves, and we help ensure equal access for all. When we help those within our communities we allow for stronger, more cohesive communities. As we develop stronger, more cohesive communities, we can appreciate the strengths that each of us brings to the community table. The possibilities are endless.
What we do affects the lives of generations to come. By working together for the common good, instead of the many working to benefit the few, we can leave future generations a home to cherish, respect, and enjoy.
The concerns Americans have need to be heard. Whether those concerns are our troops overseas fighting wars we know about (and wars we do not), environmental pollutants and catastrophes like the BP oil spill, foreclosure, job loss, health care, crime, sexism, racism, or a lack of bike paths, they need to be heard. Maryland, I am listening and I open the dialogue to make our country better for residents. ~ Natasha Pettigrew
