Around The Blogosphere 13 October 2010

I ran across an interesting blog today that I hadn't seen before: Oui, Mademoiselle also has a presence on Facebook and updates on twitter.

Nicolas Copano (@copano) has made a list of Twitter users [es] that are reporting on the rescue of the 33 trapped miners live from Camp Hope. Meanwhile, the Chilean government has uploaded a Flickr photostream with images of the rescue of the miners.

Here's another great blog from Africa, specifically Kenya, Grace Kerongo posts "Hot Secrets"... Grace has been nominated and accepted as a candidate for the 2011 Hottest Ladybloggers List! Congrats, Grace! Mouseover and click on her photo for an interview with the bloggette!

Talk about Money making power on the Internet! So, you've signed up with one of those services that will have you writing blog ads, eh? Better than any tutorial, you should read a blog ad written by an A-List Master, XiaXue, called "Rice is the New Potato." After you've read Wendy's post, go delete that pathetic post you've uploaded and write one with punch!

Blogging for Money: What Makes YOU Any Different? -Are you still working to make money online with an Internet Business? Or are you now a Hobby Blogger who began as a Business Blogger? Have you invested a great deal of time and effort in a blog with the intention of making money, only to become discouraged over time as things didn’t work out so well? Nowadays you may be telling yourself that your goal is to “add value” or “build relationships” so your visitors will “trust you” enough to buy from you at some vague date later on down the road. If you want to sell products and make money, there are specific things you must do.

Habrahabr-user frony posts [RUS] a review of Russian indie netlabels, online record labels that publish songs with Creative Commons license. Genres include hip-hop, alternative, as well as classical music.

COMMENTING CHARGES
Per comment rate: $2
Payable by either clicking the BitCoin "tip me" button or the PayPal "donate" button in the sidebar.

WAIT, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO COMMENT?
Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

I NEED TO BE HEARD! BUT I DONT WANT TO PAY.
Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
