My analog birthday was last week - My "Blogging Birthday" falls in the month of November ...
... I began blogging for the very first time in 2002! I've been on the blogger platform since 2005 and despite many attempts to lure me to other platforms, I've reamined tried and true to blog*spot. I even forgave them when they deleted my Capital Region People blog, which at the time of its death was still pulling in an average 500 readers per day, even though nothing new had been poste don it for two or three years! (I have the complete blog: saved thanks to HTTracker I was able to do that long before blogger allowed XML exports!)
I've been tempted to change my template a few times and came this close once, but after being given advice by two bloggers high on the "A-List" I've stuck with what you see here now... which is not to say I won't change anything in the future. So, how do I feel about blogging in 2011?
It's still going strong, despite all the gurus who had predicted that myspace, vlogs and podcasting would "totally replace blogging by 2010."
My blog here is an eclectic mix of everything I am interested in and all that I do... that's really what a dairy/journal SHOULD BE. It's also a showcase for my poetry, personal opinion, written articles and anything else important to me. If I find a recipe I really like, you'll see it here somewhere on this blog. WHY? I always know it's here, like a "digital cookbook." Some of my recipes have been viisted by thousands, others by no one, and I don't care because they are really here just for me!
I've built up a really comprehensive library of articles on various topics.
I belong to (and sometimes participate in) a variety of social networks - "mainstream" like twitter, facebook and LinkedIn, and also "fringe" like Klout and a few others.
Although the old "blogroll" concept seems to have bit the dust (and "trackbacking" recently followed) I have a list of my fave blogs bookmarked on the computers I use. And the ancient blogroll is still available if you can find it in my sidebar: I moved it to a seperate page a few years ago, but never destoyed it. sentimental reasons!
With 2012 looming large on the calendar, nobody knows what will happen over the next 14 months. Just be ready!
Persevere and Participate!
Belated wishes, how I missed it? Always your blog impresses a lot, keep going.....
