Can A Love of Sports Be Worth a Fortune?

Here is where the pros are. If you don’t believe me, peruse around the bookmaker's during a major sporting event and keep your ears keen to the conversations going on. Then, listen to these guys talking on their mobile phones and you will realize that you aren’t in London or New York and they're not talking stocks here!

Sports betting is a multi million pound industry. Bets in the amounts of tens of thousands of pounds are bet on a single game. If you are a sports advocate you know what I'm talking about. I grew up around it and I know what kind of money is won and lost in sports betting. I also believe whole-heartedly if you don’t have to “call every game”, then you can win consistently year in and year out.

That’s the big secret to sports betting – I have several acquaintances who supplement their income betting on horse racing, football and other sports and I've even known a couple of people who make their entire income from sports betting. Sure there are other factors involved, but overall, it's the ability to resist betting on certain games, or races and ensure your money is down on the “value bets” or as my friends in the USA calls them: the “locks”.

If you are trying to supplement your income by gambling, I'd first tell you not to do it. Then, I'd tell you if you are going to do it, visit a free bet site and bet with the bookmaker's money to begin with. Why would I tell you not to do it? Well, it's a tough road for even the lucky ones and it can be financially devastating if you can't discipline yourself to bet sparingly.

That said, I would still tell you if you are going to make your income from sports betting, don't quit your day job yet. See if you are as good as you think picking sports and then try supplementing your income first. If it works, you can move on to the land of milk and honey.
