Beating The Dead Blogging Horse

How many times can bloggers re-hash the same old tired stuff and make it "new"? Recent changes on the internet involving Google, G+, Facebook and newcomer Pinterest have CHANGED the pillars of thought surrounding ideas and tips like the ones in the post referenced below.

Just the other day I noticed a blogger offering a really outdated (circa 2006) batch of "tricks" and "advice" - most of them I recognized from great blogs of the past. And today another soupspoon of well-intentioned blogging "advice" is ladeled out on a popular blog:MY SUGGESTION ::: Those of you who think you need to avail yourself of tips and techniques need to sign up on tech forums and bookmark blogs written by industry insiders - people who WORK for Google and Pinterest - people who closely watch LinkedIn and Facebook. It is from THESE places and individuals you will learn what's REALLY going on...

***Check this GOOD ADVICE out: "How a 19.98% Traffic Increase Can HURT Your Site"

NOW - READ and think:

YOU DO NOT WANT TO FOLLOW "OLD ADVICE" THAT IS NO LONGER APPLICABLE TO BLOGS BECAUSE IT COULD END UP DAMAGING YOUR BLOG OR EVEN CUTTING OFF YOUR FLOW OF INCOMING TRAFFIC!

CUT, PASTE, PRINT THIS:::

Keyword Research - not as important today as it was a year ago

On-page SEO - if you are desperate to sell something, go for it

Analyse competition - ??? Especially today, "there's always room at the top." Besides, your competitor might be an idiot and it could be a mistake to follow his or her example, or even to try compete with or counter!

Build content - always a good idea, BUT, get as ORIGINAL as possible with everything - your copy, images and videos. You'll get lots of kudos and you'll escape new copyright rules under discussion that could shut your blog down.

Social Media (*Yawn*) overrated, not yet passe, twitter is gold, facebook is silver until the end of March when Timeline is forced on all fbk-ers.

Commenting - CommentLuv is effectively destroying the klout comments once had - there is software now that mines blogs for CommentLuv links and leaves spam comments - Google and Bing are aware of this and they are adjusting the value of comments accordingly. (You probably have already seen the other "get links" programs that are in truth comment-leaving spamware).

Article Submission (and Guest-Posting) (***TRIPLE YAWN***) The two most-overrrated, overused and abused vehicles in the blogosphere. Now that "everybody's doing it" nobody aiming for success should want to... COME UP WITH YOUR IDEA FOR MAKING A "SPLASH"!

Offer a give-away to your visitors - To that I'll add "only if it is valuable or if you have deep pockets." Nothing gets people more pissed off at you and more likely to take steps to nuke you and your blog than to be dissatisfied with your "gift" - whatever it may be.

Patience? NO! Persistence? YES! Be a little energizer blogging bunny and keep going and going, beating your little drum! If you are worthy of note, you'll be noticed!

I'll close this post with my standard advice -"BLOG ON!"

COMMENTING CHARGES
Per comment rate: $2
Payable by either clicking the BitCoin "tip me" button or the PayPal "donate" button in the sidebar.

WAIT, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO COMMENT?
Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

I NEED TO BE HEARD! BUT I DONT WANT TO PAY.
Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
