Swift Technique debuts in Albany & New Paltz

Swift Technique, NYC's finest Funk, Soul & Live Hip-Hop band, will be making their debut apperances in Albany, NY and New Paltz, NY next week! After opening for Wu-Tang Clan, Kermit Ruffins, Keri Hilson, Wale, ?uestlove, Mr. Lif, Big Sam's Funky Nation and others during the last two years, Swift Technique will be performing at Red Square (388 Broadway, Albany) on Friday, April 20th and Bacchus (4 S. Chestnut St., New Paltz) on Saturday, April 21st.

Swift Technique is a blend of James Brown, Led Zeppelin, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Roots. Equipped with a three piece horn section, the group has come together to create something that uniquely represents their hometown of Philadelphia. Most recently, Swift Technique was nominated for Indie Funk / Jazz Band of the Year by the TriState Indie Awards, as well as being featured in JUMP Magazine.

Swift Technique will be appearing for a "green" carpet interview outside Red Square at 6pm on Friday. Swift will also be joining Cold Flavor Repair on Saturday in New Paltz.

"'Swift Technique' (an appropriate name for this group) was one of the tightest, most original acts I'd seen in The District in a long time. With one microphone -- front and center -- the brass players seemed to trade off, each dancing when not soloing or accompanying the others. "The Temptations" would have been proud!"
- Fritz Rumohr, DC Live Music Examiner

"Absolutely amazing, They blew me away with what's best described as a horn infused blend of funk and hip hop (...) Watch for these guys to explode"
- Bag of Songs Music Blog

"One of the best live bands I've ever seen" & "One of my favorite bands in the world"
- Kevin Kennedy, Philadelphia Music Critic and founder of The Swollen Fox Music Blog

Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
