Hi Dave! Summer in the city! Central Avenue also has hundreds of blooming flower baskets and 244 new banners up and down the street, which showcase local people, places and things, including the WAMC's The Linda. Be sure to check them out on your next walk! Can't miss 'em!
Hi Molly!Without a doubt, Central Avenue is my favorite place in Albany (just like Canal St. is my favorite in NYC) and these pictures give a little glimpse of "real city" life -The flowers (likely escaped from one of those hanging flower pots the city had up a summer or two ago) thriving, sprung up out of the sidewalk crack...The kitty, moseying along the busy street (and an 'old pro' at navigating thru busy traffic)...The rebuilding of the iconic McDonald's - a testament to progress and new life and healthy business along "The Avenue"...The police, always there to help visitors and passers-by...The people on the street - from every walk of life - rich and poor - hailing from a variety of countries and cultures!A walk down The Ave takes you past staples like the mosque and the church and the Armory, The Public Library and the Blue Note Record Shop; new businesses like Halal Mobile, all sorts of marvelous ethnic food stores and restaurants... and some of the colorful street people and the great sights and sounds that make you feel good to be alive!
