Clone Cell Phone Spy

A Disturbing Bit of Info!

If you've ever caught an episode of the TV series "Person of Interest" you've seen the main characters use their smartphones to intercept (monitor) conversations in real time on other people's cell phones.
Uh-oh... it seems "there's an app (or two) for that!"

One night I couldn't sleep and ran into this article while websurfing.

Mobile Spy

Cell Phone Tracker

This one looks scarey - as does this one - I'm wondering what sort of devious trick one might use to "install" any one of these apps on a targeted device? By email? "Your pictures have arrived!" or "Pix of the new baby!" or "I want to meet you!" How gullible (or too quick on the button to open email) does one have to be to be in danger of downloading one of these creepers? The following information was culled from various sources;
  • Never leave your smartphone unattended
  • Never loan it out except to trusted friends and family
  • Create a password for access
  • Remove the battery when you're not using the phone
  • Never accept Internet connection invitations
Do not give your cell phone number to strangers or post it on the Internet. Spyware can be installed on your phone from a remote location simply by calling it!

  1. The good folks at GotoCamera have made it a lot simpler to use a surveillance app over your phone, without demanding much of your time and money. And what's more, it's FREE! This FREE app gives you 1-click access to your cameras, archives, and settings. You can get started by creating an account (also free). Follow the simple set-up instructions and set up your basic webcam to start monitoring your pets, family, home, business, and just about anything.

Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
