Internet Security ::: Beware the CLOUD!

My daily readers know I DESPISE Cloud Computing ::: Here is another reason you should buy and keep an 'old fashioned" pc or lappy ::: This article explains in-depth why you want to avoid advice given by well-meaning but poorly-informed "blogging gurus" like Kikolani - SEPERATE you online accounts! OR read a chilling preview of what can and will happen - "In the space of one hour, my entire digital life was destroyed. First my Google account was taken over, then deleted. Next my Twitter account was compromised, and used as a platform to broadcast racist and homophobic messages. And worst of all, my AppleID account was broken into, and my hackers used it to remotely erase all of the data on my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook.

In many ways, this was all my fault. My accounts were daisy-chained together. Getting into Amazon let my hackers get into my Apple ID account, which helped them get into Gmail, which gave them access to Twitter." ~ Mat Honan

Ellen Page has been the target of two recent death threats made on Twitter, according to The Washington Post::: One of the threatening messages — tweeted out via two accounts from which said messages have since been removed — promised to “K-1-L-L [Page] in public in the next year” if she continues to date Alexander Skarsgaard. (The actors were photographed at a hockey game in June on what may or may not have been an official date.) Los Angeles police have issued a search warrant to Twitter in the hopes of determining the source of the tweets...

Brazil: Will the Pioneering Internet Bill of Rights Pass?

COMMENTING CHARGES
Per comment rate: $2
Payable by either clicking the BitCoin "tip me" button or the PayPal "donate" button in the sidebar.

WAIT, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO COMMENT?
Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

I NEED TO BE HEARD! BUT I DONT WANT TO PAY.
Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
