#reinventingyou : Define Your Brand, Imagine Your Future

Though I am not looking to change positions, this book gave me a little push in the direction of self-assessment and penciling up a few points in my approach to the world I'd like to modify. My colleague Michelle Marsh recently interviewed author Dorie Clark .

“Why not take time to think how you’d like to be seen in the world and then work strategically to accomplish that, rather than waiting for life to happen to you?” ~ Dorie Clark

Dorie Clark is a former presidential campaign spokeswoman and a frequent contributor to several high profile publications, including Harvard Business Review and Forbes. She is also a columnist for Mint, India's second-largest business newspaper. Clients including Google, Yale University, and the Ford Foundation hire Clark to help increase sales and enhance their brand reputation.

Clark emphasizes blogging as one means for reinvention: her suggestions are helpful ("When people hear your name, the first thing people do is Google you..."), and the case studies are interesting. In her book, Clark offers you a blueprint to build a career that thrives on your unique passions and talents.

At the present time you cannot download a free PDF of Reinventing You: Define Your Brand, Imagine Your Future... But should you like to taste a few of Clark's tips, click here.

Clark tells Bob Morris [bobmorris.biz] “I think there’s very little understanding that our economy has changed fundamentally and permanently. The new estimate is that 40% of Americans will be freelancers or self-employed by 2020 – a shocking change that will make personal branding and reinvention even more important.”

If you are in the market for a job, you really can't go wrong by picking up or downloading a copy.

COMMENTING CHARGES
Per comment rate: $2
Payable by either clicking the BitCoin "tip me" button or the PayPal "donate" button in the sidebar.

WAIT, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO COMMENT?
Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

I NEED TO BE HEARD! BUT I DONT WANT TO PAY.
Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
