Updated Holiday Schedule For Empire State Plaza Ice Rink



The New York State Office of General Services welcomes everyone to enjoy free skating and special events this holiday season at Albany's  Empire “Skate” Plaza, including a “Try Hockey For Free” program and a trivia day at the rink. And don’t forget, skate rentals are free each Friday, courtesy of Hannaford Supermarkets.

Holiday Schedule at the Rink:




Thursday, January 1 – Rink open regular hours, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sunday, January 4 – National Trivia Day, noon to 3 p.m. Answer trivia questions and win prizes.

Saturday, January 3 – USA Hockey and Troy Albany Youth Hockey invite boys and girls to try hockey for free. From 9 to 11 a.m., youth, ages 4-12 can experience hockey for the first time and learn the basic skills. No previous skating or hockey experience is required. Participants must pre-register at empirestateplaza.org. Registration will soon be open for another Try Hockey for Free program on February, 21.

Tuesday, January 6 – Skate with the Albany Devils has been postponed, and a new date will be announced.

General Rink Information
·         Hours: Every day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather dependent.
·         Cost to Skate: Free
·         Skate Rental: $3 for children younger than 12 and $4 for everyone 12 and up. Skate rentals will be available whenever the rink is open. A photo ID is required to rent skates. Every Friday is free skate rental Friday courtesy of Hannaford Supermarkets. For skate rental information, call (518) 473-6299. For all other ice rink related inquiries call (518) 473-1527.
·         Amenities: Full-service snack bar open Friday nights, weekends, and school holidays; skate lounge with lockers for personal items on the Plaza level; and music.
