New Paltz Bike Swap - Saturday May 16th at New Paltz Middle School

The 8th Annual New Paltz Bike Swap is being held on Saturday May 16th at the New Paltz Middle School in New Paltz, NY.

The Bike Swap is a community event where you can buy, sell and trade bikes, bike parts and anything bike related.

You can sell your old bikes or bike parts for cash or buy bikes and cycling stuff at amazing prices.  And it's a great place to meet the local cycling community.  And it's a lot of fun...

There will be bikes, bike parts, apparel and so more on sale.  Last year we had over 200 bikes including mountain, road, vintage, fixies, trials, kids and cruisers.  It's a fun event that is free to everyone and open to the public.

All the info about the Swap can be found here: www.newpaltzbikeswap.com.  Also check 'em out on Facebook to see photos of some of them items for sale this year, and get the latest updates about the Swap.

The Bike Swap is a fund raiser for the Fats in the Cats Bike Club, a non-profit club that supports cycling in the Hudson Valley.  We build and maintain mountain bike trails, work with land managers to keep trails open, lobby for cycling friendly legislation, and support the local bike culture of the region.  The club has been around since 1994 making the world better through cycling (www.fatsinthecats.com).

The bike club asks for 20% of items sold as a donation so please mark your items accordingly.

Vendor check in starts at 9 AM.  The swap is open from 10 to 2 PM.  If you have a lot of items please contact me ahead of time to arrange advance item check in.

If you have any questions Pete can be reached at 917-655-5123 or by email (pete at fats in the cats dot com).

COMMENTING CHARGES
Per comment rate: $2
Payable by either clicking the BitCoin "tip me" button or the PayPal "donate" button in the sidebar.

WAIT, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO COMMENT?
Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

I NEED TO BE HEARD! BUT I DONT WANT TO PAY.
Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
