Latest on missing college student Marizela Perez

Sadly, the weekend search for Marizela Perez turned up nothing. Michelle Malkin is out with a new post featuring security footage and photos of Ms. Perez. What can we expect next? A favorable aspect is that the disappearance is still relatively recent. So the chance Ms. Perez is still alive is very good. Take a look at another case where the missing person wasn't missing at all.

Then, there is the mystery that surrounds this kind of case. When Suzy Lyall went missing from her UAlbany bus stop, there was investigation, concern and an organized effort to fins out what happened to the young student. Published stories indicate that as Suzy's Mom was on the phone with the bank, someone used Suzy's ATM card (maybe Suzy herself) - but since that day so many years ago, all the leads have seemingly dried up.

I have always thought that Suzy is still alive, being held against her will, perhaps like Elizabeth Smart, not too far away... or maybe she was sent off to some foreign land to serve out her remaining days as a slsve...

In the Marizela Perez case, we have the INTERNET, which may be the casebreaker, if someone with knowledge and eyesight sees this young woman.

So whether you are in Seattle or Siberia, please read Michelle's post, study the video and photographs, and keep your eyes open!

Because, like the fine publication Tablet, whom I borrowed this concept from, I too am committed to bringing you the best, smartest, most enlightening and entertaining reporting and writing I'm able to provide, all free of charge. I take pride in my loyal readership, and I'm thrilled that you choose to engage with me in a way that is both thoughtful and thought-provoking. But the Internet, for all of its wonders, poses challenges to civilized and constructive discussion, allowing vocal—and, often, anonymous—minorities to drag it down with invective (and worse).

I'm asking people who'd like to post comments on my blog to pay a nominal fee—less a paywall than a gesture of your own commitment to the cause of great conversation. All proceeds go to helping me bring you the provocative and/or entertaining articles that brought you here in the first place.

Readers can still interact with me FREE of charge via Facebook comments and Google+ comments! You can also reach me via Twitter @davelucas

I hope this new largely symbolic measure will help create a more pleasant and cultivated environment for all! Those of you who choose to contribute, thanks for your support.
