Cold, Rainy, Bloggy... Me!

I'm playing catch-up today. It's been a long, long time since I've had a day where I could sit down at my desk, log onto the net, and visit a myriad of blogs and websites.

The day began rather cold here in New York - I posted earlier on twiter that this is the first day since February I've made a cup of hot cocoa to keep warm. Although I had one or two "usual Saturday errands" and an appointment at 1pm, the rest of the day is mine.

I've come up with my own set of suggestions for getting in better shape and trying to stay as healthy as possible. Walk through these steps with me!

Videos are one way you can stay active and healthy in the privacy of your own home. But there's more to being fit than going through a few routines, or running outdoors, or becoming a gym rat! After the jump, I have listed 7 easy ways to get fit without sacrifice!

Stop Phone From Using Data

iPhone users: from your phone’s homepage, click Settings, scroll down and click on Facebook, then click Settings, then click the Auto-play tab and you can then choose Wi-fi only or off. More.

Android users: log into the Facebook app and go to the account settings. You can then choose to turn it off or you can select so that it only plays when you are connected to Wi-fi.

Install My Data Manager (Free) and allow it to track the data your apps use. At any time, you can open up Data Manager and take a look at how many megabytes (or gigabytes) any app is using. If anything is sucking your data plan dry, make sure that app isn't running in the background

You'll notice I keep ALL cellular data "OFF" - only when my phone is sucking up free Wi-Fi does it connect to facebook - and only then does it connect to the apps that appear in the green "switched on" position. (The screenshot taken is 'faded' because nothing is on when cellular data is running!)

3 Important Keyword Research Terms

If you are an online business owner, then keyword research is an important tool in your positioning arsenal. Most new online traffic comes from search terms that people type in every day. Whether they're looking for a new pair of Sketchers, replacement tires, or a set of authentic Hummel figurines, their search terms could lead them right to your shop. That is, if you position yourself to receive them. Keyword research allows you to build your site content and other SEO efforts around a targeted set of keywords that makes it easier for people to find you in search engine results. Here are three important terms to keep in mind when doing your keyword research.

Long Tail Keywords

Long tail keywords are keywords that contain three or more words. As opposed to short tail keywords, long tails are very specific. According to SEOMoz, long tail keywords make up about 70% of search engine traffic. They also convert to sales better, since they're often used by searchers who are further along in the buying cycle. After all, a searcher who uses the term "red and white Converse sneakers" knows just what they're looking for.

Search Volume

When using a keyword research tool, such as the one offered by 1Shopping Cart, search volume refers to the average number of people who search for a given term in a month. Ideally, you will use the keywords that have the highest monthly search volume. There is no magic number when it comes to search volume. This will vary from niche to niche, though higher numbers are usually better.

Keyword Competition

When considering search volume, you must also consider the competition for those keywords. In just about any niche, you're not going to be the only person wanting to rank for a given set of keywords. Your keyword competition will determine how difficult it will be to rank for a given keyword. This is another reason why ranking for long tail keywords is beneficial. Long tail keywords tend to have less competition.

When planning your keyword research, long tail keywords, search volume, and keyword competition play a big role in the success of your SEO campaign. Keep these three terms in mind while putting together your keyword list, and you'll be off to a great start.
