Hot Tuna In Town

Hot Tuna began life during a hiatus in Jefferson Airplane's touring schedule in early 1969 while Grace Slick was undergoing recovery from throat node surgery that had left her unable to perform. Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, Paul Kantner, and new drummer Joey Covington played several shows around San Francisco including the Airplane's original club, The Matrix, before Jefferson Airplane resumed performing to support the album Volunteers.

Jorma will soon turn 75, and here's your chance to see him and Jack play while they're still young!

When I Really Die, Do I Die Online?

Do you really want to be posting articles after your death?

That is an interesting question. Should bloggers pre-post articles way ahead of time? Assuming the blogger or WordPress or whatever system didn't get corrupted or otherwise fail, bloggers could be dispensing advice and anecdotes to readers (and relatives & their descendants) for years after they've departed this mortal coil.

Do we have a social responsibility to leave such a legacy? Imagine your own son or daughter reading dear dead Dad or Mom's blog 10, 15, 20 years after they've passed away? "This may be a rough time in your life. Or maybe not. I hope you are happy! I want to tell you a story about... blah blah blah."

And if a blogger should leave such articles behind, would readers, family members, descendants feel an obligation to read them or a sense of guilt if they didn't?

You could always write your final entry. Date it a year ahead and revisit it to make changes and updates. And when you approach that anniversary date push it ahead another year or another 6 months or whatever time you estimate you may have left. Here's a great example:

I died in Burnaby on May 3, 2011

#RIP Flor Alba Núñez Vargas

Many of my colleagues and contemporaries all over the globe increasingly find themselves in dangerous situations. Here in the United States, people were horrified when a reporter and her cameraman were murdered on live television.

But there are more of us who risk our lives on a daily basis. It's hard to accept that something as simple as participating in a children's event at a shopping mall or interviewing a chamber of commerce leader could potentially end in death.

On September 10, 25-year-old broadcast journalist Flor Alba Núñez Vargas was shot to death in southwest Colombia. Her bio descrfibes her as "a passionate woman of the media" who enjoyed spreading information over the air and online.

Huila Police commander Colonel Santiago Camelo has gone to the town of Pitalito to personally lead the investigation into the events surrounding the murder. Nuñez reportedly was attacked by a man on a motorcycle, who shot her in the head as she was heading in the door to work. How often have you been outside the door at your job - and I'll bet you're never "on guard" - never would you suspect that someone would shoot at you!

Authorities are offering 70 million pesos for information leading to the killer's capture. The Foundation for Press Freedom (FLIP for its acronym in Spanish) has developed three possible hypotheses. Núñez Vargas “recently published - on her personal Facebook account - photographs of a criminal gang that had carried out a robbery,” according to FLIP. The second and third hypotheses involve coverage of the election process and threats she had received after the publication of an interview about the killing of a dog.

CPJ reports that 46 journalists have been killed in Colombia since 1992. The country ranks 8th on the organization's 2014 Global Impunity Index for murders of journalists.

FLIP said it is going to Pitalito to get more information about the case and called on the attorney general to act.

In addition to her work a La Preferida, Núñez Vargas also worked for various television stations and newspapers, including Canal6, Nación TV and newspaper La Nación. Reports describe her as a well-known journalist in Huila.

Clinton VS Obama

To fully appreciate what's going on here, you really should read the book first, or at least a synopsis...

Crowley: Obama surpasses Hillary in 'dark, Machiavellian' politics

Monica Crowley of Fox News When it comes to "Machiavellian, dark politics," Bill and Hillary Clinton may have met their match in Barack Obama, declared Monica Crowley, Fox News analyst and online opinion editor at the Washington Times, speaking during a radio interview Sunday. outbrain.com is one damn annoying system-freezing service! Do you have the virus or is your computer routinely crippled by the site? Check for the virus and remove it here.

In 2014, Nick Douglas developed a method of blocking “Around the Web” links, which oft are outbrain generated.

You can also check your browser cookies for [yourname]@traffic.outbrain.com and delete... matter of fact, search for anything *.outbrain and delete. Traffic.outbrain.com mimics Google and may return forged search results that clearly differ from the ones that are displayed by Google.
